Tear off a couple of large sheets of aluminum foil. Put on a tray with a small object (a spoon, a toy car, a wooden block, an avocado pit).
Wrap the object completely in foil, pressing the foil to its shape. Hold it up so the child can see the imprint. Unwrap it.
Most kids immediately want to wrap something. Then unwrap. Then wrap something else. The transformation of "I can still see the shape" is mesmerizing.
Crumple the foil into balls instead. Wrap a toy and "find" it under the foil. Make a "foil mask" by pressing it to a face (their own, very gently).
